Revenue metering data is critical business information and, because it is used for financial settlement between entities, has underlying legal implications that require it be managed in accordance with more stringent processes that might otherwise be afforded to your facilities operational data.

Revenue metering data, once collected from the metering systems, needs to be subjected to a validation process to ensure it's completeness and correctness. Furthermore it is essential that all handling of this data be done with systems that provide audit tracking so that, should it be required, any changes to metering data (due to meter errors, etc…) can be fully traced and documented.

Revenue metering data quite often needs to be processed before being presented to a financial settlement system. This processing may be a simple aggregation of multiple metering data sets, a complex transformer or line loss calculation or a generator state-biased manipulation or whatever other processing may be required to satisfy the commercial terms of the related financial settlement process.
